Yes, finally the WhatsApp developers have heard the cries of people wanting a desktop version of the famous social messaging app. They have come with WhatsApp Web that will allow users to send messages without even touching their phone while they busy working on your desktop. How cool is that. Eureka! Ok guys, enough of fun. Lets get to the point.
Users of Android, BlackBerry 10, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Nokia S60 will be only ones who can get their hands on the desktop version of WhatsApp. Apple users, tough luck. Due to Apple platform limitations, Apple users will miss out on this. I'm glad I have Android. Android FTW! Follow the below guide to start using the desktop version of WhatsApp.
Most of us watch a lot of videos on YouTube(well, I do!) and some face problems of buffering videos on slow connections. This really sometimes tests your patience because you will have to keep pausing so that the video buffers. Once you watch the buffered part, you might have to pause it again so that the next few minutes or seconds(depends on how slow your connection is) of the video buffers. By default, YouTube divides a video into segments and each segment is buffered as and when it is needed. This causes some serious problems on slow connections.
For all those on slow connections and also for others, Magic Actions for YouTube is a browser extension which comes with a lot of handy features that allows you to take control of YouTube videos. You can get the Magic Actions for YouTube Extension for Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Opera. This is really a helpful extension and has helped me watch videos on slower Internet speeds.
Below is the list of essential options provided by the Magic Actions for YouTube Extension:
Speed Booster - Better video preloading / buffering
This settings makes the video buffer way ahead in time(provided you have the speed) overriding the YouTube's new logic of buffering video segments on request. By using this, you can keep the video tab open and watch the video after the whole video is buffered. There is also a sub option which plays a sound when a video is completely buffered.
Instantly control volume of videos
By setting this option, you can scroll the mouse wheel to lower or increase the volume of the video you are watching, just like you do in few of the video players.
Set the default video quality
Depending on your Internet speed and/or your favored video quality, you can set the quality of the video as a default. For example, if you set the default quality as 480p, every time a video is loaded it is set at 480p eliminating the need to set it when the video starts playing. Note: This setting has stopped working in the latest version of the Chrome extension. It might work for you, give it a try.
Enable Cinema Mode
It is one of those modes where in everything except the player turns black(well, actually it is just a black overlay over other elements) to give you a cinematic experience. You can set the cinema mode to turn on when the page loads or when you click on the sides of the player.
I really like this feature. As the name suggests, it stops the videos from automatically playing when the page loads. This comes in very handy when you want to open a few videos in tabs and keep'em ready for watching.
Hide Page Elements
You could hide the other elements available on page like Comments, Related Videos, Header, Footer and Video Description. This could thus help you load the video page much faster and save you some bandwidth.
I am happy using the above mentioned options but there are other options like Hiding Ads, Forcing player type, Enabling a theme and Enabling Auto Replay which you could use if they are necessary to you.
Most of the smartphones out there have a battery problem. They just don't last as long as we expect it to. To use our smartphones without interruption when the battery juice is low, we have power banks available these days. Power Banks give your smartphones enough juice to keep it going.
Nifty, an U.K. based company that had successfully kickstarted the MiniDrive back in 2012, has come up with a new product yet again and is awaiting to raise funds. XOO Belt is what they are calling it. It is a wearable belt like any other belt but equipped with battery life for your dying smartphones.
Nokia might have sold its mobile division to Microsoft but it still owns a technology division and it is this division which has come up with a hardware product. The Nokia N1 Android tablet.
This is the first hardware product Nokia has launched after it was acquired by Microsoft. It is really surprising to see Nokia enter the tablet market under it own branding.
