Amazon jumped into the video streaming business by launching its own set-top box called Amazon Fire TV on Wednesday in an event held in New York City.

Amazon's VP Peter Larsen led the proceedings of the event instead of the CEO Jeff Bezos. The theme of the event was that of a living room with couches and popcorn.

Analyst: Amazon's 6-camera Kindle smartphone will release in June

Amazon might finally be launching their Kindle smartphone after years of rumors. The Kindle smartphone might launch in June, says trusted analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo.

The rumor started three years ago that Amazon might be entering the smartphone industry but that did not happen. It was last year that some solid reports confirmed that Amazon was actually planning to launch a smartphone or two.

Amazon Prime price hiked, $99 a year in the US

Amazon Prime users, we have some bad news for you. Amazon is increasing its Subscription fees for Amazon Prime and Student Prime services.

This is the first time in nine years they are hiking the price for these services. Amazon Prime which previously cost $79 a year will now cost $99 and Student Prime which previously cost $39 a year will now cost $49.

Amazon has acquired Double Helix Games, a game studio which was involved with the co-development of Killer Instinct for Xbox One.

This acquisition raises speculations that Amazon is planning to enter the console market soon, maybe some time this year. If speculations turn out to be true, Amazon could give a good competition to Playstation and XBOX consoles.

Amazon has already made its mark as the largest online retail store and now it wants to try its hand at physical retail, according to GeekWire.

They are installing the 'Kindle Kiosk' vending machines at selected airports and shopping malls. The machine will sell Kindle products like Kindle Fire HDX, Kindle PowerFast adapter, Kindle e-readers and others of the kind.
