Google unveils Android Wear OS for wearables

Google in a blog post on Tuesday unveiled Android Wear, the customized version of Android for wearables.

The Android Wear is so heavily customized to achieve great performance on the wearables. Generally it concentrates on only two components: the information and the ability to get it by voice or text commands.

Android SDK for wearables launching in two weeks

Google will be launching Android SDK(Software Development Kit) for wearables in two weeks time, says Sundar Pichai, Senior Vice President of Android at Google.

Sundar announced this during a discussion with John Battelle at the South by Southwest(SXSW) conference in Austin, Texas.

Google unveils Google Maps Gallery, a way to find rich maps

Google builds up on its Google Maps Engine public data program which was introduced last year and launches the Google Maps Gallery.

Google Maps Gallery will allow governments, nonprofits and businesses to publish their valuable maps to the gallery which can be discovered by users more easily.

Google to launch Nexus smartwatch in June at Google I/O

Google is planning to release a smartwatch of its own in June at Google I/O, reports CNET. The device will be the Nexus of smartwatches with Google controlling the design of the software and hardware.

The smartwatch will be manufactured by LG(who also manufactured the last two Nexus devices). Google is going to make an announcement about this smartwatch in March.

Project Tango: Google's 3D sensing Android Phone

Google has revealed a new project code-named Project Tango, an Android Phone which can track the 3D world around us using its sensors.

This is a project carried out by Google's Advanced Technology and Projects Division (ATAP) and was in development for over a year.
